FRIDAY, May 1: 

National Teacher Shortage

Each spring, thousands of people graduate with education degrees, but the national teacher shortage remains unaffected, leaving some school districts to get creative and ask retired teachers to return to the classroom. ABC's Reena Roy shares what educators and experts think of this solution.

Beginning May 4th, we will launch a special America 250 journey, with 60 days of powerful moments in history, brought to life through (graphic) vignettes that reveal the people, ideas, and turning points that shaped who we are as a nation

WEDNESDAY, May 6:

First-ever Bookless Bookstore

Audible has opened a bookless bookstore for the month of May. It's the first-ever physical space dedicated to audio storytelling that will offer a listening lounge, book club programs, and Dolby Atmos immersive sound. It's open to the public and is free to enter and free to listen. We'll hear what some of the early visitors have to say.​​​​​​​

THURSDAY, May 14:

E-Bike Bans

A sharp rise in electric scooter injuries in recent years has pushed many K–12 schools and colleges to ban or heavily restrict micromobility devices. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Micromobility Products-Related Deaths, Injuries, and Hazard Patterns report, injuries involving e‑scooters, e‑bikes, hoverboards, and similar devices increased nearly 21% from 2021 to 2022. The growth in e‑scooter injuries has been especially dramatic, climbing from 8,566 cases in 2017 to 56,847 in 2022. Children 14 and younger accounted for about 36% of all micromobility injuries during that period, despite representing only 18% of the U.S. population, underscoring the disproportionate impact on younger riders.​

America 250- Americans helping Americans

Gary Sinise Foundation (GSF) will surprise the family of an injured veteran, a quadriplegic, with a fully accessible vehicle. This moment carries even deeper significance. The Foundation has a long‑standing, very close relationship with this family, having previously built them an accessible smart home. This next chapter in their story is expected to be especially meaningful.

MONDAY, May 25: 

Memorial Day Parade LIVE FEED

On Memorial Day, our Nation's capital was without a parade for more than 60 years. The Parade began with the dedication of the National World War II Memorial - Memorial Day weekend, 2004. In 2005, the American Veterans Center reinstated the tradition of “THE National Memorial Day Parade.

THURSDAY, May 29: 

AI Scams

AI powered scams have made it nearly impossible to tell what's real and what's fake. The FBI's Internet Crime Report included AI-enabled scams for the first time ever, and the numbers are alarming. In 2025, the FBI received 22,364 complaints from victims who lost $893 million to AI-enabled scams alone. We are going to take a closer look at these scams.​
